Opening the Wolf in this historic space that housed Baywolf holds special significance for Restaurateurs Rich and Rebekah Wood: In 1996, the couple had their first dates and fell in love with each other over meals at Baywolf. Those meals also ignited the dream of owning a restaurant together, and they hoped to find a space just like Baywolf’s, someday.
In 2001, the Woods opened their first restaurant venture, Frascati, a successful bistro in the Russian Hill neighborhood of San Francisco.
Wanting to be closer to their own home and community, the couple opened Wood Tavern in Oakland in 2007, and next-door neighbor sandwich shop Southie, in 2011, both of which quickly grew into vibrant destinations with a loyal clientele.
And now, in 2017, along with Co-Proprietor Chef Yang, Rich and Rebekah present The Wolf — in the very building where the Woods’ relationship and their restaurateur dreams began.
